WHAT ARE PARABENS?

Parabens are a group of chemicals widely used in 98% of the cosmetic and skin care products the average woman will use on a daily basis. About 60% of what is used on the skin gets absorbed into the bloodstream. Parabens are also absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream in the same way that nicotine is absorbed from a patch into the body.

These chemicals have hazardous long term effects on women’s estrogen levels. This is because once they are absorbed into the body; they have the potential to act like the estrogen compounds in the body. This is especially risky because high levels of estrogen can stimulate breast cancer.

Parabens can have endocrine-disrupting effects; this means a disruption to ovaries, the thyroid and any other system in the body.
